1 John3:16-23
16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. I can’t tell you the times I passed by someone in need and later thought, I should have done something. If we get honest with ourselves, we have all done this on more than one occasion. I believe at some point we have to put action to our words. The world needs to see the love of God in action. Now, how is that done? It is done through you and me. We are His representatives in the earth. He is reaching out through us. We are His hands, His feet and His mouthpiece. If we see something that needs to be done then maybe God has put us there to do something about it. Let’s look at the Good Samaritan….. Luke 10:30-37 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” Maybe we don’t want to be bothered or say we don’t have the time. Truth is, it would inconvenience us or might cost us something or should I say get into our pockets or our time. The world is looking for true love. Who will step up and show true love? Will you be His feet, His hands & His mouthpiece? “Beware you are not swallowed up in books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of Knowledge.” John Wesley We must not talk about it or just read about it, but be busy about it.
